About this design

Many families now remember their pets during Día de los Muertos, and October 27 is often set aside for them. A banner of bones and paws tells everyone the altar belongs to a dog who was part of the family.

How to cut this template

  1. Download the PDF and print it at 100% on letter-size paper.
  2. Stack two to four sheets of tissue paper behind the template.
  3. Fold everything in half along the dashed line, template on the outside.
  4. Clip the layers and cut away the gray areas, starting with the bottom edge.
  5. Unfold slowly, fold the top band over a string and glue it.

Tips

  • Cut the toes of the paw before the big bones, while the paper is still stiff.
  • The crossed bones meet on the fold: cut them in one go from the folded edge.
  • Orange or turquoise tissue makes a cheerful pet altar.
